Bibi F. Hussain - Santana is currently a teacher in New York City Department of Education. She has been awarded the Learning AFAR grant for the last two years, leading students to complete service learning projects in Yucatan, Mexico. Hussain - Santana delivers instruction in the context of empowering students to be independent learners and global citizens. Given the wealth of cultures and languages in her classroom, Hussain - Santana utilizes a multicultural approach to communication while serving as a guide in the acculturation process. This position also offers her the opportunity to write integrative curriculum that promotes literacy across the content areas and grants to fund the co-curricular activities that support language development, the acculturation process and service learning abroad. She also serves as an instructor for the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) on the State University of New York, New Paltz campus.
